Welcome! Whether you are new or returning to our family at Phillis Wheatley we couldn’t be more excited to have you joining us for the 21-22 school year. My name is Micah Enders and I am the principal at Phillis Wheatley. You are part of one of the best schools in Kansas City, Missouri.  We hold our parents and students to very high standards and are excited about what will take place this year.  The teachers, who are highly qualified and progressive, care about our students and their educational opportunities.

I have been the principal here for the last 5 years and have been in education for over 15 years.  While the past 18 months has been unprecedented, at Phillis Wheatley we have found innovative and engaging ways to help our students continue to grow and be successful. Students at Wheatley Elementary learn in a safe, nurturing and positive environment.  We work diligently to create a program that is personalized, caring, and high achieving. The entire staff is here to make every effort possible to ensure that each student has a positive and productive educational experience, which is culturally relevant and rigorous.  I do believe that learning and growth in children is a shared responsibility.  For that reason, I encourage you to become involved in your child's education.  While parents are always welcome to visit the school and the classrooms, during the pandemic it will be mandatory that parents set up an appointment prior to entering the building. Our parents are very active and are a vital part of the educational process.  Parents who are actively involved in the school see great results in their child’s education.  Together we can make a difference for our students’ continued success.

The faculty and staff of Wheatley Elementary School are committed to working collaboratively with parents, families, and community leaders to create a school climate of high expectations for academic achievement and citizenship. Our goal is to facilitate the realization of each student’s unique potential. We also strive to build a solid foundation upon which each student of Wheatley Elementary School can learn at high levels. Students and teachers work together in a safe, clean facility with state-of-the-art technological equipment.

As Principal of Phillis Wheatley Elementary, I will make each student and parent feel a part of our school.  I encourage all parents to join with our faculty and staff to make Wheatley Elementary the best place possible for students to learn and grow educationally, physically, and socially.  I look forward to working with each of you in continuing to move the school forward and I encourage you to become involved in the educational program at Wheatley with an unconditional commitment to quality and All Means All!
